Bosch begins sample production at its first US semiconductor plant, backed by $225 million in CHIPS Act funding to bolster domestic supply chains.
Bosch has started sample production at its first US semiconductor facility in Roseville, California, following a $225 million agreement with the Commerce Department. The plant, acquired from TSI Semiconductors in 2023, will focus on silicon carbide chips critical for automotive and industrial applications.
The $2 billion investment, including federal funds, aims to address supply chain vulnerabilities exposed during the COVID-19 pandemic. Automakers and suppliers have increasingly shifted production to the US to mitigate geopolitical risks and tariffs, supported by trade agreements like the USMCA.
Commercial production is expected to begin later this year. Bosch cited national security and supply chain resilience as key drivers for the investment, aligning with broader industry efforts to reduce dependence on Asian and European suppliers.
