Speculation about a Tesla-SpaceX combination could intensify competitive pressure on Boeing amid its fragile financial recovery.

Boeing’s turnaround could face heightened risks if Tesla and SpaceX merge within the next decade, analysts suggest. The aerospace giant reported Q1 2026 revenue of $22.217 billion, up 14% year over year, but posted a core loss per share of $0.20 and negative free cash flow of $1.454 billion. Commercial Airplanes operated at a 6.1% negative margin, though its backlog reached a record $695 billion and debt declined to $47.2 billion from $54.1 billion.

Shares closed at $215.01, down 9.2% over the past week, reflecting investor caution. CEO Kelly Ortberg highlighted momentum in the backlog and customer support, but a combined Tesla-SpaceX entity could disrupt Boeing’s recovery trajectory. The scenario remains speculative, with no formal deal announced.

Analysts, including Gene Munster and Walter Isaacson, have floated the idea, though Boeing was excluded from recent top stock picks by a prominent market strategist.
