Bitcoin climbed past $72,000 for the first time since June 1, driven by President Trump’s pledge to position the U.S. as a crypto hub and the Treasury’s plan to double longer-term bond buybacks. The moves sparked a surge in liquidity and investor confidence, with BTC trading at $71,385.80, up 11% in 24 hours.

Ethereum rose 19% to $2,266.81, while XRP gained 19% to $1.20. The total crypto market cap reached $2.52 trillion, a 10% increase. Short liquidations topped $3 billion, with Bitcoin and Ether leading at $1.67 billion and $1 billion, respectively.

Trump announced the end of “Operation Chokepoint 2.0” and urged Congress to pass crypto-friendly legislation, including the GENIUS Act for stablecoin regulation and a revised CLARITY Act. The Treasury’s bond buyback plan aims to enhance market liquidity further.
