Berkshire Hathaway will acquire Taylor Morrison Home for $6.8 billion in cash, paying $72.50 per share. The offer includes a 24% premium to the homebuilder’s May 29 closing price and values the company at $8.5 billion with debt included.

The transaction marks one of the first major deals under CEO Greg Abel, who took over in early 2026. Berkshire holds nearly $400 billion in cash, making the acquisition relatively small by its standards. The company expects to close the deal in the second half of 2026.

Berkshire aims to consolidate its homebuilding operations under Taylor Morrison, betting on a rebound in U.S. housing demand. The sector has faced pressure from elevated mortgage rates and affordability challenges in recent years.
