Greg Abel maintains Berkshire’s 9.3% Coca-Cola position, generating $850 million annually in dividends despite portfolio reshuffling.
Berkshire Hathaway CEO Greg Abel has retained the conglomerate’s $35.5 billion stake in Coca-Cola, representing 9.3% ownership and nearly 10% of its equity portfolio. The position, acquired for $1.3 billion starting in 1988, now yields $850 million annually based on Coca-Cola’s 2.4% forward dividend yield.
Under Abel, Berkshire has trimmed holdings in Mastercard, Visa, and UnitedHealth Group while adding $17 billion in Alphabet shares and acquiring homebuilder Taylor Morrison for $8.5 billion. The Coca-Cola stake remains untouched, reflecting its long-term economic value rather than sentiment.
The decision underscores Abel’s alignment with Warren Buffett’s strategy of holding high-conviction, dividend-paying stocks amid broader portfolio adjustments.
