Buffett’s firm acquired $10 billion of Alphabet shares privately at a discount to the public offering price.
Berkshire Hathaway purchased $23.5 billion in stocks during the second quarter, ending a 14-quarter streak of net sales. The largest transaction was a $10 billion private placement of Alphabet shares at prices below the public offering.
Alphabet sold Berkshire $5 billion of Class A shares at $351.81 and $5 billion of Class C shares at $348.20, compared with public offering prices of $355.1982 and $351.8018, respectively. The private sale closed June 4 alongside Alphabet’s $84.75 billion public offering.
The $3.39 and $3.60 per-share discounts saved Berkshire approximately $100 million. Berkshire had been building its Alphabet stake since the third quarter of 2025, according to filings.
