Greg Abel more than tripled Berkshire Hathaway’s Alphabet holdings in Q1, making it a top-seven equity position.
Berkshire Hathaway increased its Alphabet stake by 224% in the first quarter under CEO Greg Abel, raising the position to 58 million shares valued at $23 billion. The move elevates Alphabet to one of Berkshire’s seven largest equity holdings, signaling strong conviction in the tech giant.
Alphabet reported first-quarter revenue of $109.9 billion, up 22% year-over-year, marking its fastest growth in over two years. Operating income rose 30% to $39.7 billion, with margins expanding to 36.1%, extending an 11-quarter streak of double-digit growth.
The stake expansion follows Abel’s official appointment as CEO on January 1, 2026, though the initial position was established under Warren Buffett in late 2025.
