The Bank of England appointed Nicholas Segal as Chair and Peter King as Deputy Chair of its Enforcement Decision Making Committee, effective 1 August 2026. The EDMC oversees contested enforcement cases across prudential regulation, financial market infrastructures, and other statutory regimes.
Segal and King replace Sir William Blair and Philip Marsden, whose terms expired at the end of July 2026. The outgoing leaders were credited with establishing the EDMC as a credible body for enforcement decisions.
Segal, a judge in the Cayman Islands and Hong Kong, brings extensive legal experience, while King’s background was not detailed in the release. The appointments aim to maintain the committee’s authority in regulatory enforcement.
