Vietnamese carrier Bamboo Airways ceases operations amid soaring jet fuel costs and financial strain in August 2026.
Bamboo Airways, a Vietnamese hybrid carrier, has suspended all flight operations and stopped selling tickets as of August 2026. The airline, launched in 2019 with a fleet of 24 Airbus A321neos, operated domestic routes and limited international charter flights to Asia and Australia before the shutdown.
The suspension follows a wave of airline collapses driven by record-high jet fuel prices, which spiked after geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. Earlier this year, Mexican carrier Magnicharters filed for bankruptcy, while Argentine low-cost airline Flybondi faced restrictions after canceling 79% of its flights in July.
Bamboo Airways cited unsustainable fuel costs and operational challenges as key factors in its decision. The airline had previously scaled back international routes post-pandemic, focusing on domestic and charter services.
