Austria’s FMA penalized Bitpanda for violating EU crypto rules on white papers and marketing disclosures under MiCA.
Austria’s Financial Market Authority imposed a €70,000 ($82,000) fine on crypto platform Bitpanda for breaching the EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation. The penalty marks the first published final enforcement action under MiCA by the regulator.
The FMA found Bitpanda failed to submit a required crypto-asset white paper 20 working days before publication. The platform also distributed marketing materials without mandatory disclosures, including a statement that the content was not reviewed by authorities and lacked contact details.
The decision was finalized under an expedited procedure. MiCA, implemented to harmonize crypto regulations across the EU, mandates disclosure and marketing standards for crypto firms.
