The telecom giant added 432,000 postpaid wireless subscribers in Q2, surpassing forecasts amid strong demand for bundled services.
AT&T reported 432,000 net postpaid wireless subscriber additions in the second quarter, exceeding FactSet estimates of 338,500. The gains were driven by low-cost unlimited plans and bundled mobile-broadband offerings targeting cost-sensitive customers.
The company’s revenue reached $31.6 billion, slightly below the $31.80 billion consensus, while adjusted earnings per share hit 65 cents. AT&T also posted record broadband additions, including 367,000 new fiber internet users and 279,000 fixed wireless subscribers.
Shares rose 5% in premarket trading as the results highlighted progress in AT&T’s convergence strategy, which aims to reduce churn by selling multiple services to the same household.
