The project will double Aster’s ethylene export capacity by 2027, strengthening Singapore’s role in Asia’s petrochemical supply chain.
Aster Chemicals & Energy has approved an $80m expansion at its Singapore ethylene cracker complex, aiming to double export capacity to 80m by 2027. The project includes a new ethylene chiller system and upgraded export logistics at Bukom Island, with contracts awarded to Toyo Engineering and UTOC Engineering.
The expansion follows rising regional demand for ethylene, a key petrochemical feedstock. Singapore’s strategic position as a high-capacity export hub is expected to benefit from deeper integration with Indonesia’s Chandra Asri plant, enhancing the derivatives value chain.
Aster’s director stated the move aligns with Asia’s growing ethylene demand and Singapore’s commercial and strategic importance in global energy markets. Construction and engineering partners were selected for their expertise in hydrocarbon processing.
