American Express will purchase TheFork, Tripadvisor’s European restaurant reservation platform, for $700 million in cash. The acquisition adds over 50,000 restaurants across 11 countries to AmEx’s existing dining portfolio, which includes Resy and Tock, bringing its total bookable venues to 75,000.

TheFork reported $232 million in revenue and $28 million in adjusted EBITDA for the year ended March 31, 2026. Tripadvisor had previously signaled plans to explore strategic options for TheFork, citing a shift toward its experiences business. Proceeds from the sale may fund share buybacks, debt reduction, or further investment in experiences.

Tripadvisor shares rose 7% in early trading following the announcement. The deal also strengthens ties between AmEx and Tripadvisor in dining and travel services.
