Meta and OpenAI commit to 6 gigawatts each of AMD Instinct GPUs, solidifying AMD as a primary AI infrastructure provider.
Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ:AMD) locked in multi-year contracts with Meta and OpenAI, each pledging 6 gigawatts of AMD Instinct GPU deployments. The deals, valued at roughly $50 to $60 billion per gigawatt, position AMD as a core AI infrastructure supplier rather than a secondary option.
AMD’s Q1 free cash flow jumped 253% year over year to $2.6 billion, supported by a net-cash balance sheet and 28x interest coverage. The company also reported 91% earnings growth, outpacing NVIDIA’s expansion from a smaller revenue base while gaining CPU market share from Intel.
The commitments reflect a structural shift in enterprise AI adoption, with AMD’s MI450 deployments slated for the second half of 2026. Hyperscalers are diversifying beyond NVIDIA, reducing reliance on a single supplier.
