Jefferies analysts expect AMD to surpass Nvidia’s $200 billion AI CPU market estimate and reveal new customer deals next week.
Advanced Micro Devices Inc plans to update its addressable AI CPU market estimate above $200 billion during its Advancing AI 2026 event in San Francisco. The move would top Nvidia Corp’s May projection for the same segment, signaling growing competition in AI infrastructure.
The event marks AMD’s first dedicated AI day since June 2025, when it launched MI350 GPUs and previewed the Helios rack system. Analysts anticipate details on next-gen MI500 GPUs and potential new customer announcements, with Anthropic seen as a likely partner. Microsoft Corp recently joined OpenAI and Meta Platforms Inc as an MI400 series GPU customer.
Jefferies noted that deal economics will be critical, as AMD has already allocated 20% of its capacity to existing partners. A traditional agreement with Anthropic could bolster confidence in AMD’s AI expansion strategy.
