Microsoft, Meta, and OpenAI commit to multi-gigawatt deployments of AMD’s Instinct GPUs and Helios suite for AI workloads.
Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ: AMD) is securing high-profile contracts in the AI accelerator market, challenging Nvidia’s dominance. The company’s Instinct GPUs and Helios suite, which integrate EPYC CPUs and Pensando DPUs, are being adopted by major tech firms for AI training and inference workloads.
Microsoft will deploy AMD’s Helios across Azure, while Meta Platforms has committed to a multi-year, 6-gigawatt deployment of Instinct GPUs starting in the second half of 2024. OpenAI has also signed a similar multi-gigawatt agreement, signaling growing demand for AMD’s AI infrastructure solutions.
The deals highlight AMD’s expanding role in the AI chip market, driven by hyperscalers’ rising capital expenditures on data center capacity. Analysts suggest these partnerships could position AMD for significant revenue growth in the coming years.
