Anthropic’s expected $1.2 trillion valuation would value Amazon’s 15-20% stake at up to $240 billion, boosting its AI infrastructure commitments.
Amazon could see its investment in Anthropic surge to between $180 billion and $240 billion if the AI startup debuts at a $1.2 trillion valuation. The e-commerce giant holds a 15-20% stake after investing $13 billion, with an additional $20 billion tied to commercial milestones.
Anthropic, last valued at $965 billion in May, has seen secondary market transactions push its valuation to $1.2 trillion ahead of a potential October IPO. Amazon’s latest funding round in April included over $100 billion in long-term commitments from Anthropic for AI training and chip capacity.
The IPO would provide liquidity for investors and employees while solidifying Amazon’s position in AI infrastructure, including 5 GW of capacity for training Claude and future iterations of its Trainium and Graviton chips.
