Amazon has signed a multi-billion-dollar agreement with Corning to ramp up US manufacturing of optical fiber and connectivity products for data centers. Financial terms remain undisclosed, but the deal targets expanding Corning’s production capacity amid rising demand for AI infrastructure.

Corning plans to increase US-based optical connectivity manufacturing tenfold and domestic fiber production by over 50%. The partnership includes a workforce initiative, creating 1,000 jobs at Corning’s North Carolina facilities and expanding a fiber optic technician training program with a local community college.

Corning shares rose 7% in early trading, reflecting investor optimism about the deal’s potential to offset weaker consumer electronics demand. The company recently partnered with Nvidia to further expand US fiber optics manufacturing.
