ALPS Insurance has agreed to acquire Ohio Bar Liability Insurance Company (OBLIC), a provider of professional liability insurance for Ohio attorneys. The deal is designed to enhance long-term support for legal malpractice coverage by leveraging OBLIC’s local market position and ALPS’ broader platform.
OBLIC, founded in 1978 by the Ohio State Bar Association, serves a statewide policyholder base. Under the agreement, current OBLIC policyholders will see no immediate changes to coverage or service terms. The company will retain its brand and focus on Ohio attorneys.
ALPS plans to expand resources for policyholders and use Ohio as a regional hub to grow its Midwest presence. The Ohio Bar will remain involved post-transaction, though operational leadership will shift to ALPS.
