Bill Ackman’s Pershing Square Capital Management sold 95% of its Alphabet Class A and Class C shares in Q1 2026, according to an SEC filing. The move reduced the fund’s exposure to $GOOG, which it first purchased in 2023, despite strong performance since then.

Ackman stated the sale was not due to bearish sentiment on Alphabet but rather a reallocation of finite capital. Proceeds from the sale were directed toward increasing the fund’s position in Microsoft, another member of the “Magnificent Seven” stocks.

The shift highlights differing strategies among high-profile investors, as Warren Buffett’s successor, Greg Abel, reportedly maintained or increased Berkshire Hathaway’s stake in Alphabet during the same period.
