Academy Sports + Outdoors Inc. shares climbed nearly 2.9 percent to $53.15 in premarket trading after reporting first-quarter earnings that surpassed analyst estimates. Adjusted diluted earnings per share reached 93 cents, above the expected 92 cents, while revenue matched forecasts at $1.44 billion.

Net income for the quarter ended May 2 rose 14.3 percent to $52.7 million, or 80 cents per diluted share, compared with $46.1 million, or 68 cents, a year earlier. Net sales increased 6.7 percent to $1.44 billion from $1.35 billion, driven by a 2.9 percent rise in comparable sales and a 17.4 percent jump in e-commerce sales.

The company raised the low end of its full-year guidance, citing strong traffic and average ticket growth. Executives noted ongoing inflationary pressures but expressed confidence in maintaining momentum through strategic execution and value-driven assortments.
