Abacus Global tokenizes life insurance policies to streamline transactions and expand institutional access to the $224 billion secondary market.
$ABX is shifting part of the $224 billion secondary life insurance market onto blockchain, tokenizing over 100 in-force policies to date. The move aims to create an immutable record of ownership and cash-flow rights, reducing transaction times from weeks to days.
The company plans to migrate its entire balance sheet portfolio onchain by the end of 2026, with future policy originations following the same structure. The secondary market currently requires manual review of ownership records, beneficiary assignments, and servicing histories for each transaction.
Abacus expects the infrastructure to lower due diligence costs and eventually broaden access for qualified international institutions and family offices. Smart contracts may automate premium servicing, policy tracking, and investor reporting.
