Personal finance author Robert Kiyosaki warned savers of cash could face losses as US national debt exceeded $40 trillion. The milestone follows Treasury data confirming the debt load crossed the threshold this week.

Kiyosaki criticized Treasury plans to double buyback operations for longer-dated debt from $2 billion to $4 billion, calling it “another round of quantitative easing.” He argued the move would weaken the dollar and accelerate inflation, hurting cash holders.

The Treasury’s buyback program aims to improve liquidity in older securities, though Kiyosaki framed it as excessive money printing. US debt has grown rapidly, rising from $30 trillion in early 2022 to $40 trillion now.
