Daimler Truck’s Indian unit, Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV), will invest Rs40bn ($419.1m) in Tamil Nadu to expand product development, manufacturing, and R&D capabilities. The funds will also support infrastructure and technology readiness, creating around 400 jobs.

DICV’s total investment in India will exceed Rs145bn following the commitment. The company operates a 400-acre manufacturing and R&D site in Oragadam, employing over 4,000 staff and sourcing 92% of BharatBenz product value locally. Since entering the market in 2012, DICV has exported over 75,000 trucks and buses alongside 330 million parts globally.

The investment aligns with India’s growing demand for commercial vehicles in logistics, mining, and infrastructure sectors. DICV’s Chennai operations also supply transmissions to Daimler Truck facilities in Germany, reinforcing its role in the global supply chain.
