New Zealand dollar declines against a firmer US dollar, driven by external factors including China trade data and US jobs reports.

NZD/USD fell near 0.5900 as the US Dollar Index rose 0.26% to around 100.00, pressuring the kiwi without domestic catalysts. The move reflects broader USD strength ahead of key economic releases.

China’s trade data, due overnight, is expected to show exports growing 22.2% year-over-year in July, down from 27%, while imports slow to 27.9% from 36%. The trade surplus is forecast to narrow to $107 billion from $125.62 billion. A slowdown in New Zealand’s largest export market adds further pressure.

US Nonfarm Payrolls on Friday may extend the dollar’s recovery, with consensus at 80K jobs after June’s 57K. Wage growth of 0.3% month-over-month could reinforce USD strength, squeezing the kiwi further.
