MetLife reported second-quarter adjusted earnings per share of $2.43, a 20% increase from the same period last year. The result surpassed the Visible Alpha consensus estimate of $2.3, driven by favorable underwriting conditions and volume growth.

Total revenue for the quarter reached $19.15 billion, up from $17.34 billion in the year-ago quarter. Analysts had anticipated a solid performance, but the earnings beat highlighted stronger-than-expected operational efficiency.

The company attributed the gains to improved underwriting margins and higher premium volumes, reflecting stable demand in its core markets.
