Rémy Cointreau has hired a former Pernod Ricard executive for the role of emerging markets managing director.
Grégory Leymarie spent more than a decade working for Pernod Ricard in Africa and was CEO of the Beefeater gin owner’s business in the region for almost four years to September 2024
A bid to “scale up” in emerging markets is one of “three large battles to win” that Rémy Cointreau has identified to drive sales and earnings. “Emerging markets offer a fantastic growth potential, and it is a strategic area of focus for the group,” chief markets officer Ian McLernon said. “Grégory’s strong credentials and experience will undoubtedly enhance our ability to build our brands for the longer term and grow faster across these countries.” After leaving Pernod Ricard, Leymarie became MD of French wine business Groupe Thunevin. Leymarie said: “I am proud to join the Rémy Cointreau group and I am looking forward to lead and deliver an impactful emerging markets business strategy with the teams, in order to reach our target.” Rémy Cointreau’s efforts in emerging markets appear centred on Cognac – a recent presentation highlighted Rémy Martin – but it’s important to remember, however, how fledgling the company’s business is in emerging markets. “Ex-Pernod Africa exec takes Rémy emerging-markets role” was originally created and published by Just Drinks, a GlobalData owned brand
