Eurozone trade deficit widens to €7.8 billion in May
The Eurozone trade deficit increased to €7.8 billion in May, a significant rise from the previous month’s €1.2 billion.
This expansion is largely due to a surge in energy imports, which reached a deficit of €30.3 billion.
In contrast, the trade surplus for chemicals and related products decreased to €18.4 billion, down from €20.5 billion in April.
The year-to-date trade balance stands at €3.3 billion, a substantial decline from the €78.7 billion surplus recorded in the same period last year.
