AAPL commits $30 billion to produce 15 billion US-made chips, marking its largest domestic manufacturing agreement.

Apple announced a $30 billion deal with Broadcom to manufacture over 15 billion chips in the US through 2031. The agreement includes a $1.5 billion expansion of Broadcom’s Fort Collins, Colorado facility, which will produce advanced radio-frequency components like FBAR filters for iPhones and other devices.

The deal follows a 500% surge in memory chip costs since August 2025, prompting Apple to raise MacBook and iPad prices by 17-25%. iPhones were spared from the increases. The commitment extends beyond Tim Cook’s tenure as CEO, which ends in less than two months.

Cook’s leadership grew Apple’s market value from $300 billion to $4 trillion, the largest corporate value creation in history. The deal underscores Apple’s long-term supply chain strategy under his successor, John Ternus.
