Italy’s Orsero expands into the US market with a $46m investment in Trucco Holdings, securing a 45% stake and board representation.
Italy-based fruit and vegetable supplier Orsero has entered the US market by acquiring a 45% stake in Trucco Holdings for $46m. The Milan-listed group also secured an option to buy an additional 15% from 2029 and agreed to purchase 46% of AJ Trucco Inc., pending regulatory approvals.
The deal, structured on a debt-free and cash-free basis, includes board seats for Orsero’s vice-chair and CEO Raffaella Orsero and co-CEO Matteo Colombini. Trucco Holdings controls New Jersey-based Trucco Inc. and TruFresh Logistics, while AJ Trucco Inc. operates within the Hunts Point Produce Market in the Bronx.
Orsero executives called the move a “transformative milestone,” citing potential growth in the US produce distribution sector. The transaction is expected to close before year-end.
