EP Wealth has acquired Opes Wealth Management, a Menlo Park-based registered investment advisor with $900 million in assets under management. The deal strengthens EP Wealth’s presence in Silicon Valley, bringing its total Bay Area assets to approximately $6 billion.

Opes Wealth, founded in 2005, specializes in serving executives in the technology sector and individuals with significant real estate exposure. The firm was previously acquired by Flagstar Bancorp in 2017 before rebranding under its current name. Its eight-member team, including founders Mark Duvall and Erin Whalen, will join EP Wealth as regional directors.

EP Wealth cited Opes’ planning-first approach and organic growth track record as key factors in the acquisition. The deal provides Opes access to EP Wealth’s family office services and expanded planning capabilities.
