Germany’s financial regulator examines potential omissions in Zalando’s 2025 accounts related to its About You acquisition.

Germany’s Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) has launched a formal audit of Zalando’s 2025 consolidated financial statements. The review focuses on whether the e-commerce group omitted required disclosures about its acquisition of About You, particularly details involving a related entity in the transaction notes for the year ended 31 December 2025.

BaFin initiated the examination on 19 June under the German Securities Trading Act, deploying its own auditors. The regulator emphasized that the audit’s commencement does not imply wrongdoing, as it is legally required to investigate concrete indications of accounting irregularities and disclose such reviews publicly. Zalando described the matter as a formal and immaterial aspect of its financial statement notes.

The outcome of the audit will be published once the investigation concludes. BaFin reiterated its commitment to transparency in financial oversight, stating the announcement reflects standard procedural requirements rather than a determination of fault.
