Saks Global rebrands after slashing debt by nearly $3 billion, securing new ownership and liquidity to expand US luxury retail.
Exemplar Luxury Group (ELG) has exited Chapter 11 after reducing its total debt by approximately 75%, equating to nearly $3 billion in cuts. The company, formerly Saks Global, operates Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Bergdorf Goodman under a unified structure with a strengthened balance sheet and sufficient liquidity for growth.
The restructuring follows a period of financial distress, with ELG now focusing on a multi-channel retail model combining physical stores, digital commerce, and remote selling. The board has been reconstituted, featuring two independent directors with backgrounds at LVMH, Ulta Beauty, and Procter & Gamble.
ELG’s new ownership includes restructuring partners Pentwater Capital Management and Bracebridge Capital, each holding two of seven board seats. CEO Geoffroy van Raemdonck emphasized the company’s commitment to consolidating its position as a leader in US luxury retail.
