Constellation Energy (NASDAQ:CEG) and Walmart announced a long-term nuclear power purchase agreement for 176 MW of emissions-free electricity from Constellation’s Dresden Clean Energy Center in Illinois. The deal includes 30 MW of expanded generating capacity, with supply beginning in 2029 and 2030 under two 15-year terms.

The agreement follows Walmart’s plans to bolster local energy infrastructure and access cleaner energy. It will support the retailer’s high-tech perishable distribution center in Belvidere, Ill., currently under development. Constellation noted the deal reflects long-term stewardship of critical energy infrastructure.

Management stated the agreement ensures reliable nuclear energy in the region, with Walmart purchasing energy, environmental attributes, and capacity. The expanded capacity will provide enough power for the new facility, aligning with broader clean energy initiatives.
