Itron Inc. (NASDAQ:ITRI) announced a contract to supply 100,000 Intelis wSource digital water meters for Watercare Services’ smart meter upgrade in Auckland. The project, part of a broader plan to connect nearly 500,000 smart meters, replaces mechanical meters with IoT-enabled devices for improved leak detection and billing accuracy.
The meters will operate on an NB-IoT network, providing frequent consumption data and supporting long-term utility infrastructure. Designed for 15-year durability, they address Auckland’s harsh marine environment, aligning with Itron’s focus on connected utility solutions.
