Cboe reintroduces yes-or-no S&P 500 bets, targeting growth in event-driven derivatives markets led by Polymarket and Kalshi.
Cboe Global Markets has relaunched S&P 500 binary options, a product it discontinued ten years ago. The move aims to capitalize on the rising popularity of yes-or-no prediction markets, which platforms like Polymarket and Kalshi have expanded rapidly in recent years.
Binary options on the S&P 500 allow traders to bet on whether the index will reach a specific level by a set date. Cboe previously offered the product but withdrew it amid low demand and regulatory scrutiny. The revival reflects growing investor interest in event-based derivatives tied to macroeconomic outcomes.
The exchange did not disclose immediate market reaction or trading volumes for the relisted contracts.
