Tankers carrying 80 million barrels of crude are poised to exit the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global oil transit route. The shipments follow a preliminary agreement between the U.S. and Iran, easing regional tensions that had previously threatened supply flows.

The crude is distributed across 40 tankers, with 21 destined for Asia. China is the final destination for five vessels, while Malaysia and Singapore serve as transshipment hubs for another five. None of the cargo originates from Iran, despite the country’s proximity to the strait.

The movement underscores the strait’s role as a vital conduit for global oil supplies, with roughly one-fifth of the world’s crude passing through it annually. Market participants are monitoring the situation for potential disruptions or shifts in supply dynamics.
