Vanguard Total Stock Market Index Fund Admiral Shares (VTSAX) posted a 300% return over the past decade, outpacing the majority of actively managed funds. The fund, which tracks the CRSP US Total Market Index, charges an expense ratio of 0.04% and holds $424.6 billion in net assets.

VTSAX mirrors the entire U.S. stock market, including large, mid, small, and micro-cap stocks, with a market-cap-weighted approach. Its ETF counterpart, VTI, holds the same portfolio, offering investors broad domestic equity exposure without manager discretion or factor tilts.

The fund’s performance has been driven by its low-cost structure and full market exposure, though its heavy concentration in megacaps like NVIDIA and Apple leaves it vulnerable to tech sector downturns.
