The US Dollar Index rises near 99.00 ahead of key inflation data that could influence Federal Reserve policy.
The US Dollar Index (DXY) advanced to near 99.00 in early European trading, recovering from recent losses as investors positioned for the release of US Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) inflation data. The PCE report, the Federal Reserve’s preferred inflation gauge, is expected to provide clues on the central bank’s next policy moves.
Prior to the release, the DXY had fluctuated around 98.50, reflecting market uncertainty over inflation trends and interest rate expectations. Analysts anticipate the data could show a slight moderation in price pressures, though any upside surprise may reinforce bets on prolonged Fed tightening.
Currency markets remained cautious, with the dollar’s strength partly offset by gains in the euro and yen ahead of the report.
