Falling bond yields and a tech sector rally ahead of Nvidia earnings offset mixed regional performance in European equities.
European indices closed mixed for a second day, with Germany’s DAX rising 0.68% to 26,285.05 and Italy’s FTSE MIB up 0.34%, while France’s CAC slipped 0.16% and Spain’s Ibex fell 0.21%. The FTSE 100 added 0.29% to 10,886.17.
The broader market was supported by declining oil prices, lower bond yields, and a rebound in technology shares ahead of Nvidia’s earnings report. European 10-year yields fell sharply, with Germany down 5.5 basis points to 3.201% and France down 7.3 basis points to 4.052%. U.S. Treasury yields also declined, with the 10-year yield down 5.6 basis points to 4.649%.
U.S. equities traded higher, led by the Nasdaq, as chip and AI stocks rallied. The Dow and S&P 500 posted modest gains, while softer consumer-confidence data eased inflation concerns.
