Nuclear sector stocks rally sharply despite no material news, outpacing the S&P 500 as investors reposition after steep year-to-date losses.
Uranium Energy Corp (UEC) led a rebound in nuclear-related stocks Tuesday, climbing 6% to $13.21 amid a broader sector recovery. NuScale Power (SMR) and Oklo (OKLO) rose 5% each to $9.46 and $41.64, respectively, as the group recouped some of its 36%+ year-to-date declines.
The move appeared driven by short-term positioning rather than fundamental catalysts. The S&P 500 gained just 0.2% to $765.33, while Centrus Energy (LEU) rose 2% to $181.44 without any company announcement. Neither NuScale’s AI workflow tool nor Oklo’s reactor update included new contracts or revenue events.
Analysts noted the rally occurred despite the absence of broad market support, suggesting a sector-specific trade. Oklo and NuScale remained down 45% and 36% year-to-date, respectively, before the rebound.
