The firm raised $2.01 billion last week but did not add to its 840,447 BTC holdings, now worth roughly $66 billion.
MicroStrategy raised $2.01 billion through share sales last week but did not purchase additional Bitcoin, breaking from its pattern of converting fresh capital into BTC. The company instead boosted its cash reserves to $6.69 billion and repurchased $136.4 million of preferred stock, enhancing financial flexibility amid Bitcoin volatility.
The firm holds 840,447 BTC, about 4% of Bitcoin’s 21 million maximum supply, acquired at an average price of $75,385 per coin. With BTC trading near $78,000 to $79,000, the holdings are now in unrealized profit territory, estimated between $2.4 billion and $3 billion.
MicroStrategy’s pause in Bitcoin purchases marks a shift for the company, which has historically used equity and debt offerings to expand its cryptocurrency holdings. The move allows it to address debt repayments, dividends, or future acquisitions without immediate exposure to BTC price swings.
