Traders await Reserve Bank of Australia meeting notes after August’s unanimous hold at 4.35%, with no rate cut discussion signaled.

AUD/USD slipped to 0.7150, consolidating below recent multi-month highs as markets brace for the Reserve Bank of Australia’s August meeting minutes. The RBA held rates at 4.35% in a unanimous decision, following three hikes earlier this year.

Governor Michele Bullock described policy as “restrictive and tight” and ruled out rate cuts, with the board only considering a hike or hold. The minutes may reveal whether the board’s stance is softening, though expectations remain for a hawkish tone.

Technical levels show the pair holding above key moving averages, with resistance near current levels. US secondary sanctions on Iran could add geopolitical pressure but are unlikely to shift RBA policy focus.
