Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) approved a share-swap merger with Oriental Hotels (OHL), offering 25 IHCL shares for every 117 OHL shares. The deal, subject to regulatory approvals, targets completion in the second half of FY28, with an appointed date of April 1, 2027.

OHL operates seven hotels with 825 rooms, including Taj Coromandel and Taj Fisherman’s Cove in Chennai. The company also holds investments in IHCL-affiliated properties across India and overseas. The merger aims to streamline operations and leverage IHCL’s balance sheet for expansion.

IHCL CEO Puneet Chhatwal stated the merger would enhance long-term value by supporting strategic investments and strengthening the premium portfolio. OHL shareholders will gain direct participation in IHCL’s growth.
