Germany now has 79 authorized crypto service providers under EU rules, widening its lead over France and the Netherlands.
Germany added six cooperative banks to its MiCA-authorized crypto service providers, bringing its total to 79. The latest update by the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) expands Germany’s lead in EU crypto licensing, ahead of France’s 35 and the Netherlands’ 29 providers.
The country’s total has grown from 57 in late June, reflecting its large financial sector and pre-existing national licensing regime. Germany’s Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) previously cited simplified authorization procedures for eligible institutions transitioning to MiCA.
ESMA’s register now lists 331 authorized crypto asset service providers across the EU, with Germany accounting for nearly a quarter of the total.
