American States Water raises quarterly dividend by 8.2%, marking its 72nd consecutive annual increase and maintaining Dividend Kings status.
American States Water (AWR) increased its dividend by 8.2% last month, extending its streak of annual dividend growth to 72 years. The utility now ranks among fewer than 60 companies with 50 or more consecutive years of payout increases, topping the Dividend Kings list.
The company serves 1 million customers across 10 states, operating regulated water and electric utilities in California. It also manages water and wastewater facilities at 12 military bases under long-term contracts, generating stable cash flow through rate increases tied to capital investments.
AWR has paid 361 consecutive quarterly dividends, though its smaller size and lack of brand recognition keep it overshadowed by larger peers like American Water Works, which serves 14 million customers.
