Ross Stores reported a 10% jump in comparable sales for Q2 2027, outpacing TJX’s 4% growth and driving a 4% stock gain.

Ross Stores posted a 10% increase in comparable sales for its fiscal second quarter, ending August 1, 2026, surpassing TJX’s 4% growth reported a day earlier. Total sales rose 13% year over year to $6.3 billion, driven by higher customer traffic and broader engagement across new and existing shoppers. Net income climbed to $851 million from $508 million, with earnings per share reaching $2.66, well above expectations.

TJX, parent company of TJ Maxx and Marshalls, had reported a 4% comparable sales gain for the same period, slightly above its internal projections. However, its stock fell 4% on the news and remained near its 52-week low. Ross’s growth followed a modest 2% rise in the same quarter last year, signaling stronger momentum.

Ross Stores shares jumped over 4% following the report, contrasting with TJX’s decline. Investors appeared to favor Ross’s broader growth strategy and stronger earnings performance.
