The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) imposed five-year trading bans on former Alameda Research CEO Caroline Ellison and FTX co-founder Gary Wang. The bans stem from their involvement in FTX’s 2022 collapse, with additional registration bans of 10 and eight years, respectively, for Ellison and Wang.

The consent orders, issued by the Southern District of New York, follow a 2022 enforcement action. Ellison was previously sentenced to two years in prison in a separate criminal case, while Wang received time served. The CFTC noted their cooperation in related investigations.

Separately, US prosecutors opposed a motion to dismiss charges against a US soldier accused of profiting over $400,000 from a bet tied to Nicolas Maduro’s removal.
