The men’s apparel retailer seeks reorganization with $138,000 in assets and $3.1 million in liabilities after a supplier alleges unpaid invoices.
Men’s fashion retailer Peter Manning New York filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection to reorganize its business, citing a supplier lawsuit over unpaid invoices. The company listed $138,000 in assets and $3.1 million in liabilities in its Subchapter V petition filed in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York on August 19.
Peter Manning operates two physical stores in New York and Washington, D.C., with plans to open a third location in Boston in September 2026. The retailer also maintains an e-commerce platform and a Brooklyn warehouse lease. Despite the filing, the company intends to continue operations and expansion.
The bankruptcy follows a broader recovery trend in men’s retail, with larger chains like Tailored Brands emerging from Chapter 11 and planning store expansions through 2027.
