August’s flash Eurozone manufacturing PMI surpasses expectations, signaling stronger-than-anticipated sector growth and potential EUR support.

Eurozone manufacturing activity expanded at a faster-than-expected pace in August, with the flash HCOB PMI rising to 52.8 from July’s 51.9. Economists had forecast a modest increase to 51.8, making the print a surprise to the upside.

The index, compiled by S&P Global and Hamburg Commercial Bank, tracks business conditions in the manufacturing sector. A reading above 50 indicates expansion, while below 50 signals contraction. July’s figure marked a return to growth after months of stagnation.

The stronger-than-anticipated data may bolster confidence in the Eurozone’s economic recovery, particularly as manufacturing activity influences GDP, employment, and inflation trends. The EUR could see support from the bullish signal.
